Harbourside Engineering, along with the City of Guelph, and Beton Construction, were awarded a 2025 Project of the Year Award for their work on the Boathouse Retaining Wall in Guelph, Ontario by the OPWA. The Award Luncheon happened on May 13th, 2026.

We had the chance to interview Aaron about his time in co-op with our Geotechnical engineering division here at Harbourside. He and Kenneth are both in their fourth year of civil engineering at Dalhousie University. Here we get a chance to talk about what working in the lab has been like for Aaron, as well as his first foray into the field in Cape Breton.

The need for materials specialist, and materials engineering is constantly growing, and we are rising to meet the demand.

Every year, Harbourside thanks it’s amazing engineers and staff with an annual retreat. This year, we celebrated our team, and our families at the Mill River Resort.

It has become an annual tradition at Harbourside to compete in the Bluenose run. To make sure more people can participate, we do he 5km run as a team building event.

The Dartmouth office uses any chance it can get to break out their BBQ. Thankfully the May long weekend was the perfect excuse! Good thing the rain held off!

Major construction has started on the new Lower Don Bridge that will carry Ontario Line trains across the Don River between the Corktown and Riverside communities. Harbourside Engineering has been acting as the specialist bridge engineer for this major project.

Harbourside Engineering Group, recently expanded its capabilities with the acquisition of W S Langley Concrete & Materials Technology. The acquired company’s president, Wilbert ‘Wib’ S. Langley, P.Eng., has more than 50 years’ experience in concrete materials engineering. He has consulted for the Halifax Harbour Bridges, Confederation Bridge, Gordie Howe International Bridge, William R Bennett Bridge and Hoover Dam Bridge.

The twinning project began with the construction of the two South River crossings — steel box girder designs, each on three piers.  General contractor was Nova Construction Co. Ltd. of Antigonish and Harbourside Engineering was the designer.

Canadian Architect — Canadian consulting engineering firms received the highest recognition for engineering excellence at the 2014 Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards gala, held at the Ottawa Convention Centre. Harbourside received the award for Excellence for their work on the Vimy Memorial Bridge (Formerly Strandherd Armstrong)
