The above video, featuring Nishtha Shah, rounds out the series from co-op students who worked out of our Dartmouth location in 2025 (to 2026 in some cases). At time of recording, Nishtha had been in co-op with Harbourside Engineering for 13 months. We are grateful she took the time to speak with us regarding her time working here before her return to Dalhousie University in the fall to complete her degree.
As a young woman in engineering, Nishtha discusses how working at Harbourside has changed her perspective on work and on learning in general. Diving into the supportive role that Harbourside has played, Nishtha encourages other potential co-op students to take advantage of every learning opportunity their work term provides.

Co-Op Recruitment Details
DURATION: 8-month co-op terms (or longer) are preferred. This ensures that students experience the work that occurs during both construction season, and during the off-season.
LOCATION: Our Structural Division has offices in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Charlottetown, PEI, Saint John’s, Newfoundland, and Stoney Creek, Ontario.
Our Transportation Divison has offices in Dartmouth, NS, and Saint John’s, NL
Our Geotechnical Division is located in Dartmouth, NS, with it’s lab located in Bedford, NS.
Our Project Management Team is located in Dartmouth, NS.
Although remote work is possible in some instances, in office is preferred.
AVAILABILITY: Harbourside partners with multiple universities across Canada. If your university or program does not list Harbourside as a co-op partner, feel free to reach out to us directly through our recruitment portal.
VACANCY: In order to maintain the highest degree of mentorship possible, co-op positions are kept intentionally limited. Early application is recommended, as positions tend to fill quickly.
