Harbourside Wins Multiple Awards with CISC Atlantic
On Friday, September 19th, the 2025 CISC Atlantic Region Awards of Excellence in Steel Construction were held at the Lord Nelson Hotel in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Representing the Harbourside team for the evening were Wade Pottie, Thomas McNutt, Marc Tarling, Riccardo Ciccarelli , and Neil Smith. This was an essential outing, since multiple Harbourside projects had been nominated for awards of excellence! The award submissions were postponed last year, and the gala itself was the first of its kind in nearly a decade.
Participation in this event was record-breaking, according to the CISC, and multiple high-profile individuals were in attendance. Receiving recognition for Harbourside’s work was therefore even more gratifying.

Highway 102/107 Overpass
The Highway 102/107 Overpass was the recipient of the 2025 CISC Atlantic Region Awards of Excellence in Steel Construction - Bridge Category. Competition was fierce from CBCL, with their submission of the Rocky Lake Railroad Overpass. The judges recognized the unique challenges for the Highway 107 - 102 overpass, and engineering expertise that overcame them, and awarded the coveted prize to Harbourside Engineering.
Port Lands Bridges: Fabrication, Transportation and Erection
The Port Lands River Bridge project had already been recognized for various engineering aspects before. The project was so involved, however, that there was still more to discuss in our submission! This project was the recipient of the 2025 CISC Atlantic Region Awards of Excellence in Steel Construction - Engineering Category. Congratulations, also to Ocean Steel & Construction Ltd. for their submission of the Pre-Con Office and Plant.
Special Mention: A. Murray MacKay Bridge Deck Panel Replacement
We’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the A. Murray MacKay Bridge Deck Panel Replacement project. Although this was submitted by COWI North America Ltd., our very own Riccardo Ciccarelli was present during the award ceremony on behalf of the Halifax Harbour Bridges for the 2025 CISC Sustainability & Innovation award. His involvement with the project, and Halifax’s two most important bridges cannot be understated. As one of the partners with Harbourside Project Management, he has been on secondment working alongside the Halifax Harbour Bridges for quite some time. With a wink and nod, we celebrate Riccardo’s accomplishments in this as well. Congratulations!
