Hole in One — Engineers PEI Golf Tournament 2025
On Friday, September 19th, the iconic Harbourside blue could be seen on the Avondale golf green. Although there are plenty of avid golfers at the Harbourside PEI Office, this was no run-of-the-mill day on the course. It was the annual Engineers PEI Golf tournament!
If you’re from Prince Edward Island, and if you’re an Engineer, this event is not to be missed. Open to Engineers PEI Members, EITs, Licensees and Student Members, it’s a fantastic industry social occasion. With beautiful weather overhead, the Charlottetown team packed up their golf clubs and headed down to the course for a shotgun Tee-time in the afternoon.
For the past several years now, Harbourside has been sponsoring the event with a “Hole in One” prize of $25,000 (Hole 8, if you were curious). Not only is this a great way to spark some friendly competition between peers, but it also helps support PEI Engineering social events. In truth, engineering work can be stressful. Quality work requires thorough consideration: checking every detail. For some projects the stakes are literally sky-high. The fact that social occasions such as these exist are a boon to the industry. It enables people to spend time with their peers in a non-work setting. Engineers can network with likeminded people and take some time away from the desk or job site.
Prize or no (and regrettably, no one won the 8th hole $25,000 prize), much fun was had by all. The weather was perfect, and the turn-out was admirable. In a breathtaking moment of suspense, a Harbourside ball landed just 8’ from the hole-in-one! In the end, our team finished with a -8 and two Eagles, narrowly losing out to the first-place team who stood at very respectable -14.
Congratulations to all those who participated in this wonderful event. We hope you will join us next year on the green. Who knows? You may have a “stroke” of luck!
