Port of Charlottetown Cruise Berth Expansion
Amongst many marine projects successfully completed by the team over the past 5 years, the work at the Port Charlottetown is arguably the most well rounded civil marine project that showcases the team’s exceptional experience in assessment, design, project management, and construction of marine works.

Fort York Pedestrian Bridge
ES Fox was awarded the contract for the bridge steel superstructure erections of the Fort York pedestrian bridges and retained Harbourside to complete the erection engineering.

Legion Road and Lawrence Pond Road Upgrades
The Town of Conception Bay South had identified the need to improve its road network through two road upgrades, Legion Road and Lawrence Pond Road.

Cornwall Interchange Design
In 2016, the Prince Edward Island Government requested funding from Ottawa to redirect the Trans-Canada Highway around the town of Cornwall. In the span of just 4 years (2009 to 2013), the area saw 159 collisions (none of them fatal). The project was to be completed in two phases. Enter Harbourside Transportation Consultants!

Galway Road Network Design
In 2015, Harbourside Transportation Consultants was hired to provide the consulting design services to assist with the creation of three multi-lane roundabouts. These were to be constructed in the Galway development in St. John’s. HTC’s scope of work as transportation engineers was for preliminary and detailed design of the three roundabouts and the roadway between roundabouts ‘A’ and ‘B’.

City of Corner Brook Traffic Signal Systems
The City of Corner Brook retained Harbourside Transportation Consultants (HTC) in November of 2017 to complete a comprehensive evaluation of the City’s traffic signal systems. Relying on our expertise as transportation engineers, the town’s goal for the study was to document existing conditions at each traffic signal system and to recommend upgrades as required.

St. Peter’s Swing Bridge Replacement
Harbourside Engineering Consultants (HEC) was contracted by Dexter Construction to provide specialist structural construction engineering services for the replacement of the existing St Peter’s Swing Bridge in Cape Breton, NS.

Burgoyne Bridge Erection
Originally built in 1915, by 2010, it was recommended that the Burgoyne bridge be replaced. Design began in 2014, and construction was completed by 2016. Harbourside was contracted by Pomerleau and Structal as a subconsultant to handle construction phasing, and unique launch/design approaches. Harbourside also developed the temporary works utilized in this project.

Bakers Brook Bridge Replacement Approach
In 2016, Harbourside Transportation Consultants designed the new approach for the replacement Bakers Brook Bridge in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland. This was part of a series of sweeping bridge replacements undertaken by Harbourside Engineering Group for Parks Canada.
Rocky Barachois Bridge Replacement Approach
In 2016, Gros Morne continued its series of bridge replacement projects. This time, the focus was on the Rocky Barachois Bridge. Once again, Harbourside was contracted to provide detailed concept, design, and tender documents.
Maritime Link
The Maritime Link Project involved the construction of hundreds of kilometers of power transmission infrastructure in order to allow Nova Scotia to import renewable energy from Muskrat Falls in Labrador. This project took shape after engaging with Mi’kmaq stakeholder, various environmental studies, and multiple surveys.
Deer Arm Brook Bridge Replacement Approach
In 2016, the Dear Arm Brook bridge was slotted for replacement. The existing conditions presented unfavourable turning radii and possible compound curvature that surprised westbound traffic.
MacKenzie River Bridge Replacement
Harbourside Transportation Consultants completed the design of the vertical and horizontal alignments, from initial concept layouts through to detailed design and tender, for the new approaches to the MacKenzie Bridge Replacement.

Karwood Market Area Traffic Study
The Karwood Market and Octagon Pond development areas in the Town of Paradise, NL. have been the subject of several development proposals in recent years. With all the expected construction, Harbourside Transportation Consultants (HTC) was tasked with preparing a Traffic Study to help direct Town staff on the road network improvements that would be required. The traffic study was to cover both development areas over a 5-year and 10-year planning horizon.

THE BIG LIFT: Angus L. MacDonald Redecking Project
The continued operation of the Macdonald bridge is essential to life in Halifax. As one of the main access points between Halifax and Dartmouth, much of the Halifax Regional Municipality revolves around the proper functioning and traffic flow of the Harbour bridges.

Central Avenue – Accelerated Bridge Construction
The central avenue replacement bridge will replace an existing 5 span bridge structure. The existing bridge longest span is a through truss design that spans 61.56m over 4 railroad tracks. Harbourside was responsible for the structural design of the 4 – self stabilizing temporary steel bents which were supported on spread reinforced concrete footings founded on bedrock.

Seal Island Bridge Emergency Repair
The Seal Island Bridge Structure was constructed in 1961 in Victoria County, Nova Scotia. The Seal Island Bridge is the third longest bridge span in the province. NSTIR consulted Harbourside to provide structural engineering services for the structural assessment of the three span continuous main span and rehabilitation of the damaged truss diagonal located within the 500 ft. center arch span.
Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s Street Classification
In 2016, Harbourside Transportation Consultants conducted a comprehensive traffic and roadway study in the Town of Portugal Cove, St. Philip’s. In gathering this information, the Town’s goal was to have Harbourside re-classify streets as necessary and create a new town map to illustrate the street reclassifications.
Town of Portugal Cove – St. Philips Traffic Calming Policy
In 2016, Harbourside was brought on as transportation engineers to address traffic and pedestrian safety issues within the Town of Portugal, Newfoundland. To address these issues in a consistent manner, Harbourside developed a Traffic Calming Policy that could empower town staff to make informed decisions.
Town of Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s Speed Limit Policy
Harbourside Transportation Consultants (HTC) was retained by the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philips’s to develop a Speed Limit Policy. The policy provides guidelines for establishing and reviewing posted speed limits within the Town. As Transportation engineers, the objective of the policy…
