Halifax International Airport Stand-by Parking Lot

Harbourside Transportation Consultants were retained by the Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) to complete a review of available options for stand-by parking and to develop a solution to provide additional spaces at the largest airport in Nova Scotia, the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. Harbourside Geotechnical Consultants also conducted the geotechnical investigation portion of this project for quality assurance and control at the project site.

McNamara Drive Roundabout Design

To improve the traffic flow through Paradise, Newfoundland, a roundabout was planned for the intersection of Topsail Road and McNamara Drive. Harbourside Transportation Consultants provided the design of the new roundabout, which would also grant access to the new Intermediate School in Paradise. The work entailed upgrades to the intersection, the access road, and the services to the new school. The design and construction of the McNamara roundabout helped improve Paradise’ overall road networks and provides accessibility to the new Intermediate School.

Canada Border Services Agency Warehouse

Harbourside carried out a geotechnical investigation for the new Canada Border Services Agency container examination facility in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The project required multiple specializations, and Harbourside handled the project management in conjunction with the Halifax Port Authority. Harbourside Project Management acted as the owner representative for this project, the associated developments at the PSA maintenance garage, and the South End Container Crane Stowage Foundations, all of which were completed by 2023.

Galway Road Network Design

Harbourside Transportation Consultants was hired in 2015 to provide the consulting design services for the creation of three multi-lane roundabouts in the Galway development of St. John’s, Newfoundland. The developer, two municipalities, the Provincial Department of Transportation, and a municipal services consultant all had to be kept apprised of the development. The Galway development is now accessible through its Mount Pearl connection, improving transportation throughout the city.

Blackmarsh Road Roundabout

In 2015, Harbourside Transportation Consultants did the detailed design for one of the first roundabouts in the city of St. John’s, Newfoundland. The goal was to accommodate this new piece of modern highway infrastructure in the city. Harbourside collected data points such as traffic flow and cost considerations prior to presenting the detailed design of the Blackmarsh Road roundabout. This redevelopment improved the safety of the intersection and welcomes citizens and residents into the West End along Captain Whalen Drive.
