The journey behind the Port Lands bridges
he four new bridges at the Port Lands in Toronto were an engineering feat and all were installed using different methods and techniques. The bridges are part of the Port Lands Flood Protection Project, led by Waterfront Toronto, which created a new mouth for the Don River in the middle of the Port Lands between the Ship Channel and the Keating Channel, as well as the foundations of a new urban island, Villiers Island.

Second phase of Hwy 104 twinning now complete
The twinning project began with the construction of the two South River crossings — steel box girder designs, each on three piers. General contractor was Nova Construction Co. Ltd. of Antigonish and Harbourside Engineering was the designer.
Steel bridge detour saves time in Shubenacadie
"If you’re building a bridge across the Shubenacadie, you want to avoid interaction with the river in the summer and the heavy icy flows in winter," says Kyle Boudreau, structural engineer with Harbourside Engineering Consultants (HEC) which has its head office in Dartmouth.
