Young Engineer: Kate Cunningham

For today’s staff spotlight, we’d like to celebrate one of our young engineers. We'd like to introduce you to Kate Cunningham. Kate has been with Harbourside Engineering Consultants since June 2024, as she pursued her master’s in engineering.

Since then, Kate has had an eventful time at Harbourside. She has noted how much hands-on work has changed her perception of engineering. The differences between engineering as an academic and as part of a consulting firm have been quite striking.

"Learning the scope of work Harbourside actually covers has been really interesting. There are so many aspects to engineering that just aren't covered in school..."

Having recently worked on The Mary's Town Harbour Bridge and The Tuft's Cove Wharf replacement, Kate continues to learn and grow as a young engineer.

"For me, what I really like, is how varied each project has been. Every project has been so different and interesting, it's really incredible how fast you learn!"

Kate continues to impress us with her work ethic and her ability to adapt when faced challenging projects. We expect amazing things from her, and want to congratulate her one her one-year work anniversary!
