Harbourside Survivor, Dartmouth & Halifax, Week 6. The Precision halving challenge using donuts! Have you ever heard of Schlag den Henssler?‍ ‍If not, perhaps you’ve seen clips online of people attempting to slice various foods perfectly in half?

As people gathered, two coffee pots were filled to exacting precision. Organizers Dani and Nick informed each team they would be selecting two champions. These would face-off against the other teams in a timed event that would put their tenacity, endurance, and shoulder strength to the test. The Coffee Pot Lift.

As our teams start to dwindle, eliminated players are still part of the greater Harbourside Team. In these circumstances, how can the company encourage continued involvement in the group activity when someone has been “voted off”? How can the game promote inclusivity AND competition at the same time? Is an elimination challenge antithetical to the spirit of cooperation?

If you’ve ever watched the hit T.V. sensation The Office, this week’s challenge may be of particular interest to you. But more than paper airplanes, The Office has some surprising lessons to teach about conflict resolution, team building, and working together.

The results of Harbourside Survivor Week 2 saw Blue Team victorious. Both Red and Green failed to out-putt them in this high-stakes mini putt challenge. They’ll have to vote off one team member each.
