NOW HIRING: Information Technology Manager
Harbourside Engineering Group (HEG) is seeking a strategic, hands-on IT Manager to lead technology operations and drive innovation across a growing multi-office organization. This role offers the opportunity to influence IT strategy, strengthen cybersecurity, and modernize systems while supporting teams across Atlantic Canada and Ontario.
The Harbourside Group of Companies, comprised of Harbourside Engineering Consultants, Harbourside Transportation Consultants, Harbourside Geotechnical Consultants, Harbourside Project Management, Harbourside Industrial Group, and W.S. Langley Concrete & Materials Technology, is a full-service heavy civil infrastructure design firm with office locations in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; Stratford, Prince Edward Island; St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador; and Stoney Creek, Ontario.
This is a fully on-site position based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, working with a collaborative team. Occasional travel between office locations may be required.
Job Description

Manage IT budget, hardware lifecycle planning, and equipment procurement.
Oversee network infrastructure, servers, firewalls, backups, and security tools.
Administer software licensing (CAD, PDF, and other business tools).
Coordinate with external IT providers to support infrastructure, upgrades, and ongoing operations.
Support, and lead initiatives such as firewall replacements, storage and backup improvements.
Support cybersecurity initiatives, including risk management and insurance considerations.
Network and firewall upgrades across offices.
Storage and backup modernization (including cloud solutions).
Cybersecurity initiatives and user training programs.
Evaluation of cloud vs. internal systems (accounting, databases, etc.).
Systems integrations (HR/payroll, internal platforms).

5+ years of experience in IT, with experience supporting networks, servers, and working with external IT providers (e.g. GBS).
Experience managing or supporting multi-site environments.
Strong understanding of networks, servers, firewalls, access points, licensing, backups, and cybersecurity best practices.
Experience working with external IT providers or managed service vendors.
Ability to manage vendors and make cost-effective technology decisions.
A proactive, problem-solving mindset with strong communication skills.
